The Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.
The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of October and June, and the examinations are conducted in February and November respectively.
Only unmarried graduates are eligible to sit for the exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
Applications have been invited from interested candidates for admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy through Combined Defence Service Examination (I) 2014.
CDS Pattern :
The Aspirants should follow the guidelines of CDS Exam Pattern. Exam is a written test which has objective type of questions. It is basically anIntelligence test as well as Personality test. This test is designed for testing the candidate’s eligibility for joining the defense academies.
The candidates who want to join the Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy andNaval Academy need to pass the following three papers:
English: This paper is designed for checking your knowledge in English Grammar and vocabulary as well as other necessary aspects. This paper contains 100 marks and the duration of the paper is 2 hours.
General Knowledge: This paper is also contains 100 marks and 2 hours duration. The aspirants should aware about the current affairs at national and international levels. History of India and Geographical indications should be known by the aspirants for answering the multi optional questions without any particular knowledge of these aspects.
Elementary Mathematics: Elementary mathematics includes various fields. The applicants need to be well in calculations and giving quick answers to pass this paper. This paper also 0f 100 marks and 2 hours time duration.
